A Deacon!

Thursday was a bitter sweet day. It was the day Tyson turned 12 and the day I really came to realize that my little boy has grown up. As I prepared for his family party that night I kept thinking of the day he was born and how excited I was to have my first baby. As everyone was eating their birthday cake someone said "well Tyson this time 12 years ago we were all waiting at the hospital for you to be born." I looked at the clock and it would have been about 50 minutes to that day that he was born. At 7:58 pm a perfect baby boy weighing 7 pound 6 ounces 19 inch long had finally arrived. Now today he has grown into a handsome young man who is always an example to others and who I know will continue to be as he grows. He is now 5 foot 4 and will be taller than me soon {he already has bigger feet than I do!!} It will be strange to not have him in Primary with all of us anymore { I teach primary-as of this week I am now Kaden's sunbeam teacher!! and Kylie and Madison are of course in there too}. But now that he is in Young Men's he gets to have his dad for a leader and teacher, so that will be fun for him.

Yesterday was an important day for Tyson as well. He was ordained a Deacon and received the Aaronic Priesthood. I had to hold back the tears because if they started they wouldn't stop! So I held it together for him and for me. After the ordination the Bishop asked him if he would bear his Testimony. He was a little nervous, OK ALOT nervous but I was so proud of him that he could do something like that at the spur of the moment. He had both his Grandpa's, His uncle Shawn, Uncle Robbie, the Bishop, His Deacons quorum advisor, a Councilor in the Bishopric, and Brent ordained him. Tyson was so excited to leave Primary and finally join the young men. We are so proud of him and the choices he makes. He is a great example to others and even though some day I wish he was still that tiny little baby, It is so exciting to see him grow and accomplish things and serve. The scary thing now is in 7 years he could be leaving on a mission... then I don't think I will be able to hold back the tears!!!
P.S. Just to let you know that is NOT a hickey on his neck!! its a football injury!! Got to love those, just in time for me to take some great pictures.... with a HUGE scratch on his neck!
